So be sure to keep checking our Instagram page 112fuertiere! There, we regularly introduce dogs from our shelter who are hoping for a home and a family of their own. Sometimes it’s love at first sight – and sometimes you need to take a second or third look.
112 Für Tiere is a volunteer-run animal shelter dedicated to the welfare of stray dogs in Satu Mare, Romania. In Romania, animal suffering is often particularly severe, as many are simply left to fend for themselves. For years, we have been working to reduce the number of stray dogs.
At our shelter, every animal has its own space where it can retreat. First of all, all animals receive veterinary care, and all our dogs are neutered or spayed. We have large green areas to ensure plenty of exercise for everyone, and spacious dog ponds offer welcome variety in warm weather. At our shelter, meals are cooked for all the animals, which allows us to cater perfectly to the needs of sensitive dogs and dogs with allergies. Our animal caretakers take time every day to engage extensively with the dogs. This includes not only feeding, but also playing, cuddling, grooming, and leash training.
Our dogs want for nothing, but even so, a shelter cannot replace a real home. That is why we do everything we can to place all of our protégés. During the placement process, we pay very close attention to the kind of family our shelter residents will join. So far, we have placed most of our dogs primarily in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. We personally ensure that our dogs are handed over to their new families, allowing us to make sure once again that they are going to a good new home.
